It’s onwards and upwards for the Enterprise Centre in Mohill.  On Friday, 5^th February, the annual graduation ceremony was held along with FabLab demonstrations (3D printing) and a presentation on the SPARK programme.

Sixteen students celebrated their successful graduation from the 2015 full–time Computer Applications for the Workplace course delivered by Mohill Computer Training (MCT). The trainees join over 300 others that have successfully completed the course that started in 1999. Most trainees have progressed directly into employment, moved into further education or indeed set up their own businesses.

The Computer Applications course is run in conjunction with the Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim, Education & Training Board (MSLETB). The aim of the course is to equip students with the IT skills needed to access many positions in the current employment market.

Chairman of Mohill Community Development Association Mr J.J. O’Rourke paid a warm tribute to outgoing chairman Mr Gerry McGee and thanked him for his tireless efforts and dedication to the development of the Enterprise Centre.

Henry Cox (MSLETB) who presented the award certificates described the course as one of the highest quality programmes in the region. He said he was proud of the achievements of current and previous graduates.

The Open Day provided an opportunity for the public to meet and speak with representatives from the Leitrim Enterprise Office, Leitrim Adult Education, MSLETB, Leitrim Development Company, the FabLab from Manorhamilton and Mohill Computer Training staff.

Speaking about his plans and ideas for the future the manager of Mohill Enterprise Centre, John Mannion, outlined an ambitious five year plan for the centre. The intention is to enhance the enterprise centre making it an invaluable resource for the town and county. He encouraged all present to make the most of the centre and to raise the issue of getting fibre broadband for Mohill with politicians campaigning for the upcoming elections.

John informed those present about the existing facilities and courses available including further computer and business training. He discussed the business units available to let and unveiled further training opportunities in the form of evening courses, a series of Friday workshops dealing with business and computer applications, the SPARK programme, business consultation and one-to-one specific training. Plans for hot desk space will be made available with the expansion into an adjacent unit.

• Start your own Business course – commencing on Thursday 10^th March for 6 weeks.
