QQI Accredited BTEI (Back To Education Initiative) Programme

The Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) provides part-time further education courses mainly for anyone looking to upskill in preparation for further education or employment.

You can take part in BTEI if you are working and on a low income. The aim of BTEI is to give people an opportunity to combine their learning with family, work and other commitments. There are no fees for this training course, and no prior computer experience is necessary.

Our primary part-time programme is an Intermediate Computers course at QQI Level 4, which takes approx. 9 months to complete. Below are further details about our BTEI programme courses:

Intermediate – QQI Level 4

Course runs (subject to numbers) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 1pm (No classes during school holidays).
Each module listed below takes approximately 4 to 5 weeks to complete.
New participants join at the start of each new module.

  • Information Technology Skills
  • Word Processing
  • Spreadsheet Methods
  • Web Design
  • Desktop Publishing
  • Database Methods
  • Bookkeeping

Upon successful completion of each module, learners will achieve a QQI Level 4 Minor Award.

Beginners – QQI Level 3

We run a QQI Level 3 computers course at varying times of year.
The course runs (subject to numbers) one day per week. (No classes during school holidays).
This course is ideal for those that have little or no experience using computers and want to begin building a foundation of skills.

  • Word Processing
  • Spreadsheets
  • Internet Skills

Upon successful completion of each module, learners will achieve a QQI Level 3 Minor Award

Applications for part-time courses are accepted throughout the year.
